  • Disconnect the opener (red cord) so it can't yank the seal
  • Pour warm — not boiling — water along the bottom seal
  • Use a plastic ice scraper (never metal) to break the bond
  • Once free, dry the seal and apply a silicone lubricant to prevent re-freezing
